Going to Africa

After five incredibly impacting and life-changing trips in 2008, 963 Missions is continuing our partnership with Mocha Club to organize more trips in 2009.  Mocha Club is an online community where people are signing up to give $7 a month – the cost of 2 mochas – to help support a project in Africa.  We will continue to plan trips for members of Mocha Club to go to Africa and witness first-hand the impact that their donations are having on the lives of Africans.  As well, we have designated a couple of trip options for groups, whether that is a church, school, etc., to round up their own members and take a trip together.  On both types of trips, we will spend time visiting and serving local ministries throughout the country visited.  Further trip descriptions are located on the trip descriptions webpage.

The trips will typically be 14 days long (this includes travel) and will center on the work Mocha Club, whose parent organization is African Leadership (a Christian Education and Development organization). The work of Mocha Club centers on meeting the physical needs of the suffering in Africa. Team members will observe and serve alongside the long-term workers with the intention of furthering the work that is already being undertaken.

Once teams are formed, the team leader will organize regular bi-weekly phone meetings to assist in the preparation process.  Such things as cultural sensitivity, fundraising strategies, and logistical preparation will be discussed during this time.

All trips will be approximately $3,000-$3,500 in total cost.  You can get specific cost information under the ‘Locations and Details’ tab.
